Eligibility: The scholarship program is for individuals who are residents of the parishes of Lafourche, Terrebonne, St. Mary, Assumption and lower St. Martin diagnosed with autism who are accepted to or will be enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited college, university, trade school, technical school, or vocational school for the academic year 2015 - 2016. This program is also for individuals who do not have autism but whose undergraduate programs are in fields that support scientific, educational, or other therapeutic interventions in the field of Autism Spectrum Disorders. Residency requirements are the same as individuals who are diagnosed with autism.
Award: Recipient will receive one award of $500.00 to be used at an accredited public or private university, trade school, technical school or vocational school in which recipient has been accepted for admission for the 2015 - 2016 academic year. Said university, trade school, technical school or vocational school must be in the continental United States, and online programs are eligible to receive award. The Scholarship Committee reserve the right to increase the funding level based on funds available in the budget for that program. Funds will be distributed directly to institution.
Note: To be eligible for an Autism Society Bayou Scholarship, you must agree to attend at least one (1) monthly meeting of the Autism Society Bayou for the year in which you receive scholarship funds.

To promote and advocate for the general welfare of persons with autism,to support the families of individuals with autism spectrum disorders and to raise awareness of all aspects of autism which affect the families.
Autism Society Bayou supports families in the surrounding areas: St Mary, Terrebonne, Lafourche, Assumption and Lower St. Martin parishes.
Autism Society Bayou holds monthly meetings on Saturdays (the 3rd Saturday of each month) at 10:00 am. The meetings are held at the Terrebonne Parish Library, North Branch, located across from H.L. Bourgeois High School. Children are welcome.
